(More customer reviews)The DW 6600 is a good looking piece! Once you open the box, the watch looks much better than in most of the pictures posted on the Internet. Unlike the DW6600C-1V, the DW6600-1V does not have the G on the watch face background. Things that I like about this watch, besides its good looks, are:

*The chronometer's "target time" feature.
*The chronometer's "auto-start" option.
*Change between 24hr format and military time with the press of a button (in only 1 step).
*The Casio G Shock toughness and quality.

I hope that Casio keeps producing this great G-Shock classic on years to come. Recently, I have been looking at the DW6600C-1V model and that G on the display looks cool! I might add it to my collection :)

Finally, I have to add that buying through Amazon was a nice experience. My purchase was delivered on time and as promised.

I just received my G7800 (positive display, black, brushed stainless steel around the face) and I really like it. The digits are not annoying at all. I was afraid that the digits would be too 'tile like' but they are fine. They are bold enough to see at a glance. The time is perfectly placed right in the center of the watch! Can you imagine- a g shock with numbers perfectly placed, and no silliness filling up the screen? No more searching for the actual time amongst distractions! I was able to make the fonts on the day/date year fine, so that the time stands out more.

The watch has a very nice brushed steel front. Basically the styling is very similar to the 5600's. It is like a 5600, but upgraded and more modernized. It is a 5600 without as much nerdiness. It has a classy but tough look to it. It looks like it will hold up better than the 5600 cosmetically, thanks to the steel! It might be a tad more raised than the 5600. You really cannot go wrong with this one.

The watch is not atomic, which, to me, means that it should last longer than 1.5 years. I have had 3 atomic casios, and all 3 have died within 1.5 years. I wouldn't have bought it if it were atomic.

I think that we may have a perfect G shock here, which i didn't think existed. The only thing is that the band is a little stiff. Hopefully it will soften up with time. I might dip the straps in boiling water to help them along.

I can tell that I am going to wear this one constantly. It took over a year, but I am glad that I have finally pulled the trigger. $75, off of amazon, came in 4 days.

I could go on about the functions, but why bother? I just use it to tell the time, and to time myself at the gym and on my lunch hour. World time, timers etc..

Really guys- if you have been on the fence on this one- it is well worth pulling the trigger on this one. It is just a fantastically evolved dw5600. Maybe that is why they called it the 7800? They have taken the 5600 (which to me has always been a perfect watch) and they have dressed it up. They have brought the 5600 into this century. You can't go wrong here.

Don't be turned off by the tile like digits- that effect goes away when you see the watch in person. It was my biggest concern, but now it is not an issue.

(More customer reviews)This is my second G8000, I've owned one with the conventional gray background LCD G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock C-cubed G-8000-1VDR - WW for about two years and of the dozen-plus Casios I own it is the one that sees the most use. The product description for this watch doesn't go into much detail so I'll make up for that in the next few paragraphs- if you'd like the quick overview check out the 'Product Features' portion of the other G8000's page.

For starters the display isn't nearly as deep an orange as the photo depicts. Google other photos to get a better idea of just how orange the display really is. The circular band surrounding the display is a matte metallic finish with a crystal made of scratch-resistant glass, not plastic.

Another aspect of the display that isn't apparent in the photo is the LCD digits can vary in appearance depending on the viewing angle from the normal black to a silver mirror-like color making it difficult to read in low light without using the backlight or turning the display to make use of available lighting.

Yet another unique feature is an LED indicator on the lower right, yellow-orange in color, that blinks in sync with the alarms (3), one of two stopwatch modes, the countdown timer (normal or auto-repeat plus 2 alert modes) and can be set to blink with the signal at the top of the hour. If it sounds complicated, it isn't; Casio watches in general are fairly intuitive to set up. My only complaint about the LED is the placement of its housing above the crystal can sometimes interfere with viewing the seconds display regardless of wearing this on the right or left wrist.

The EL backlight glows yellow-orange and can be set to stay on for 1.5 or 3 seconds when the upper right button is pressed or for automatic operation when turning your wrist to view the display. Automatic operation shuts off after 6 hours to prolong battery life.

Other minor dislikes about the watch: 1) When changing modes there is a lag where only the mode name's abbreviation is displayed (such as STW for stopwatch) before actually displaying any digits although after use this becomes less noticeable.2) The stopwatch doesn't respond as quickly to the start/stop button as older Casios and the recessed buttons are a further hindrance to quick button presses; this isn't a good stopwatch for measuring sub-one second events with much accuracy. 3) The countdown timer can only be set in one minute increments to a maximum of 23 hours, 59 minutes unlike other G-Shocks' 99 hour 59 minute 59 second max.

(More customer reviews)This is my second G-Shock; my first is still chugging right along even after going through basic training, and 4 years of active duty abuse.I've had my first G-shock for about 10 years.First and foremost when we are talking G-Shock we are talking INDESTRUCTABLE.I mean back over it with a jeep, drop it over 60' onto concrete, getting it ripped off my wrist leaving me bruised and bloodied before a pin in the strap bent enough to pull loose, and finally fill it with sand and water in the desert...G-Shocks just do not quit. Other watches in the field, Timex, Seiko, etc don't have nearly the ability to weather rough conditions and treatment and come out looking and working great.

This new G-shock promises more of the same but in a more visually interesting package stuffed full of techy goodness. The bracelet and the case are standard G-shock bulky (this is no small watch) but instead of the chunky black plastic there is very nice looking two/three tone metal.From a looks standpoint it really stands out when compared to the rest of the G-shock type watches.I get lots of positive comments and questions about this watch which brings me to the coolest and most aggravating aspect of this watch.

SWEET BLUE LED lights...Yeah it's freaking cool!BUT, it's pretty useless...The lights are placed at 3 and 9 on plane with the face, so when lit the light hits the hands of the watch at about 90 degrees and fails to shed light on ANY of the recessed digital readouts effectively.I mean, the BLUE light is super cool and is great for lighting dark hallways, but it just doesn't do it's job nearly as well as the old school "indiglo" type of background illumination. It's frustrating that Casio didn't get this worked out better. Timekeeping?Flawless, I am up in the North West and the watch has no problems communicating with Ft. Collins CO.Needless to say the watch is super accurate.

Power source?The Solar seems to work pretty well and I have yet to have a concern regarding power.The face mounted power meter lets you know where you stand and thus far even in the Cloudy Northwest there have been no power concerns.

Functions?Well there really isn't a whole lot offered but the basics are all here and they work very well.Buttons all have the standard "firm" G-shock feel to them and work well.

Overall I couldn't be happier, the Blue LED illumination is not all that effective but it's unique, the case and bracelet have a quality look and feel to them, and the watch has a great over all feel to it and should last forever.

For what it is it might seem a little spendy for this category of watch, I mean it really is just a pimped up G-shock after all, but with its Atomic and Solar features along with the handsome looks and serious toughness it's a fair value.

Four out of five stars ONLY because of the poorly executed out but SUPER COOL Blue LEDs.

Yes, they last a very long time.I replaced my G-2900, which is by far, my favorite, because the band broke.I got this G2900F-3VDR because it was on sale and looked nearly exactly the same as my G2900.The color is like a dark military brown.Love it.The only thing I miss is the metal button that you push to backlight the face.It is plastic in this model, and makes it look just a little cheap.Otherwise, I still love this watch!

(More customer reviews)I have some trouble hearing the higher frequencies of those 'beeps' that are the alarm sound on the newer digital watches. And those 'beeps' come from somwhere 'deep inside', and in back of (i.e. against your wrist), the watch body. So, I had hoped that, what appears to be a 'speaker' on the front of the watch would be the alarm 'speaker'...which would make the alarm louder. It's not. It's some sort of LED that illuminates for some unknown reason.

(More customer reviews)I got this watch instead of the 25th anniversary white edition because this is such a better value. It is the same white resin band and timepiece but the display is black on gray LCD instead of the gray on black style of the 25th anniversary one. But this is a small difference considering what you get with the solar atomic G-SHOCK. There is basically no need to set your clock and/or change it during day light savings because it receives atomic time waves and sets itself. It will probably last forever given it charges itself via sunlight. Lastly, it's a G-SHOCK so you don't have to worry about dropping it or hitting it on walls, desks, and other objects.

My only gripe is the amount of force required to push down the buttons. This isn't a big deal and makes sense because of the rigidity nature of this watch. However, sometimes getting the light to turn on requires digging into the button with my fingernail.

Other features include atomic time keeping in UK, Japan, U.S. and Germany. 5 alarms, a countdown, and stopwatch features. Displays date and time with calendar pre-programmed through 2099.

Firstly, the look.It is an elegant white watch with subtle maritime color scheme of seagreen, ocean blue, and fuschia.If you're like me and you're eyeing this watch, then the color scheme must have made a notable impression on you.

Secondly, the functionality.Now, the title for this written review is a little saturnine:I have no idea why anyone would want to know the moon age and tidal strength at a particular geographical point.However, by inputting your own Home Site Data of wherever you might happen to be, you can do just that with this watch!I suppose it's welcome to know that the East Coast, as of now, is experiencing a new moon.

Also, it is very understated which is unusual for a G. Buttons are a little hard to push, but not a big problem. Has all the bells and whistles plus an LED at he 4 o'clock position.Can be a little hard to read in low light. If you want one get it now-no more are being made. Production ceased in 2007. Super fast shipping. Can't miss on this one!!

While the classic red buttons Mudman is a well knwon sturdy and reliable watch,this orange version gives the watch a different and fun twist. The Mudman is filled with lots of very useful features that I use almost daily. Besides being cool,the orange version is well known among Gshock connoisseurs to have a more legible dial compared to the classic version. I don't see myself wanting to trash this watch for my mountainbike rides,I'll us the classic one for that,while I'll keep this one for my everyday active life and travels. For those wondering if this watch is too big or too heavy let me answer you no,it's not.It's very well proportioned and it may even looks small for some. It is also unbelivably light and comforable,you really barely remember it's there.
Kudos to Amazon for their super fast delivery.

(More customer reviews)Having owned two previous G-Shocks in my life (including the first series in 1984), I've long appreciated their quality.The main reason I stopped wearing them was simply because the resin straps would break, and having worn them for 4 years I grew weary of them.However, having burned through many fashion watches in the last 10 years I've been disappointed to spend $$$ only to get 1 or 2 years' worth of usage.So I'm back to G-Shock.I think this model (G1710D-7AV) represents a nice blend between good looks and practical durability...which most guys really want.The face is smaller on my wrist than I expected from a G-Shock, but I think it's still classy for the office.The side buttons are hidden in gray plastic (which you can't see in picture), but the rest of the watch is metal.You might find a classier analog-face G-Shock in the $200 - $300, but this one is a better value!The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the LED isn't backlight.It's an amber light that comes around the inside bevel.So the LED helps you read the dial hands, but not the LCD screens.Nonetheless, it's still a cool light color.PS- the bottom LCD screen isn't blue as pictured, but it's still a different color than the top LCD which adds further distinction to the watch.
