Baby - G - BG169A2BV (Size: women) Review

I just got the watch today through the post and I am impressed so far- it has a cool blue backlightand the functions are easy to use. Its also not too chunky-a good thing if you're doing sports with it on.
Another thing I like about it is the colour- its quite a dark blue compared to some of the other Baby G watches which are more pastel in color.
Also some of the proceeds go toward helping marine wildlife!

Nothing wrong about the watch, except for the color! I specifically purchased this watch as a gift to someone who wanted a bright egg yolk yellow watch- that's what you see when you look at the picture displayed on the website. Unfortunately, upon receiving the watch we found out the actual color is a pale greenish yellow- nothing like we were expecting! Very disappointing!

Baby-G Sweet Poison: Crystal LCD Review

I love Baby-G's. What drew me to this watch was the purple LCD and the fact that it would be my first black band watch. It did not disappoint. I love all the features, the world time is especially handy when traveling. I love the many alarms that can be set, I am not sure about the previous review, but I accidentally put an alarm on at 1:30am and lost my watch. It did a very good job of waking me up, despite sleeping on a loft bed and the watch being buried under some furniture in my room.

The Zenith Men's Defy Xtreme Tourbillon Titanium Chronograph Watch or Z.M.D.X.T.B.T.C.M. as I like to call it, is by far the most awesome watch. Chuck Norris riding into the Super Bowl on the back of Godzilla and round house kicking the crowd is no where near as awesome as this priceless poon magnet. When I was just moments from sending my $100k to some needy neo-hippie help group, I stumbled onto this gem. It was like the heavens opened and Jesus himself appeared with this same watch on. I mean how can you not follow Jesus when he's rocking a watch of this caliber. So I asked "What would Jesus do?" Jesus pimp smacked me and said "Forget those hippies, buy the watch!" I was like "HECK YEAH." I busted out my Discover card and bought this rocking piece of art. I mean its art but its also practical too. Like when I take my summer trips to the Marianas Trench, I have no more worries that I am going to miss Tea Time back on the yacht, because water ruined my watch again. It can withstand the immense pressures of the deep due to the wicked awesome titanium. Deep seas, cant beat this. Bullets cant beat this. Heck, I can deflect cruise missiles and the apocalypse. With a watch like this you don't need to tell time, you tell people what time it is.

Wave Ceptor Atomic Watch Review

Wave Ceptor Atomic Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a ham radio operator, and a stickler for accurate time (often setting my old digital watch to WWV on the Shortwave Bands and having considered myself lucky to have discovered a $30 Timex digital with ~1 second variance in about 1 weeks time by setting the time on the watches at the store, and coming back a few days later and checking for variation). I currently own two other WWVB (60kHz) time pieces at home with varying results (regarding reception/sync). I was a little cautious about a watch being able to recieve this very longwave signal, but it does. I live in Oklahoma City (barely within the supposed 600 mile daytime range of WWVB), and haven't had much luck with it during the daytime, but haven't had any trouble getting it to manually sync and autosync at night when I'm asleep. Last night it didn't - and I think that's because my PC on the otherside of the wall from the head of my bed puts out a tremendous amount of Radio Frequency Interference (I notice this on Shortwave, and it is just as likely to happen over the WWVB signal since my atomic clocks don't like to sync near the PC either). However, the fewtimes I've been on the otherside of the house (e.g. kitchen) and manually sync'd - it worked most of the time.

What I really like about this watch - besides the autosync feature - is that you can set a dual timezone - and they have one that is for GMT (Greenwich Mean Time - a.k.a. Universal Coordinated Time). Unlike the LON (London) timezone, try as I might, GMT won't accept a Daylight Savings Time adjustment ... which is a GOOD thing! So - next time I'm logging a contact on the radio - I just press one button and have the current GMT time to write in the log (handy for pilots also!).

Something not evident in any of the photos of this watch - it looks like it has a black dial face - but it is actually semi-transparent. At night, when I push the light button - I can actually see the Hour and Minute hands silhouettes in addition to the digital display at the bottom - all backlit with a aqua-green Elecroluminescent glow. Otherwise, the dial normally looks like a flat black dial. There is no second hand - which isn't a big issue. The light does not stay on as you hold the button down (power saving feature). All it takes is a momentary press, and it stays on for a little more than 1 second (definatly less than 2 seconds).

Another cool feature is that you can adjust the minute hand by '20 second' steps. That means there are 60x3 (or 180) little steps the minute hand takes each hour around the dial. Every 20 seconds, the minute hand makes a small 2 degree jump. This is pretty cool in my book. After I made a simple adjustment in the hand position, I've left it alone, and it's doing great! (The analog watch always sticks with the primary digital time zone - so switching to the secondary time zone view does not change your analog watch.)

There is a type of countdown timer - but it is based upon a target alarm setting (NOT like the type of timer that counts down on your microwave oven where you tell it 30 minutes and watch it countdown). However, if you've set the "target alarm" for 8 AM for when you're supposed to be at work (or set it for when you get 'off' work at 5:30), and you click over to the target alarm and activate it, and it is 10:30 at night... it tells you that you've got 9 hours and 30 minutes until you've got to be at work (sorta handy). I guess if you're into space shots - you can treat this as a handy reminder of the launch taking place into space - or if you're a ham operator waiting for an anticipated satellite flyover - set it and you can see when it is getting close. The time you set rolls over every 24 hours - so it will repeat this every day until you change it.

I've tried setting the 'Snooze' Alarm for early in the morning (when I ought to get up - but often sleep through) - and it hasn't stirred me yet. The snooze alarm, as I understand it, is supposed to repeat up to 7 times every 5 minutes (i.e. if I set it for 5:30 AM, it should go off at 5:30, 5:35, ..., and 6:00 unless I stop it). The hourly 'Signal' is two little pips - a little longer delay than I'm accustomed to hearing on most casio watches. Whenever an alarm does go off - it lasts for only 10 seconds. I gather this is an attempt to conserve battery power (supposedly rated at 2 years - but probably closer to 12-18 months if you take quite a few peeks at the dial using the light and make use of the autosync feature).

There's also a feature for tagging the current time into a memory. I haven't used this yet, but I think it would come in handy if you just started a contact and weren't able to log down the time that it started (or stopped). It could also come in handy if you were traveling and needed to gauge roughly when you left and when you arrived.

I happen to have bought the metal band version at a local super-retailer, and it was a good idea because the jewelry department lady had to remove three of the band links to get it to fit well (it was way too big for my wrist - and I'm not a small person).

If you are a world traveler and change your primary time zone to something other than the four main time zones in the Continental U.S., then be prepared to lose the ability to have autosync work. I guess the watch is only designed to work with the U.S. time transmitter. When you set the primary timezone to something outside of the U.S., it assumes you are too far to be in range to sync to the automic clock, and hence - you're stuck manually setting the time (and manually adjusting DST) as needed.

My only concern is that they don't have a dual analog/digital with the Atomic sync feature AND solar. The G-Shock's have them ... but they are way too big for my tastes (unless I was really active). This watch looks great in the office with out looking like a kid's timepiece.

Solar, Atomic Watch Review

Solar, Atomic Watch
Average Reviews:

You'll never get me to spend a lot of money on a watch after wearing this thing.Digital, solar, atomic and well under a hundred bucks.Quite a cool little gadget.I've had this for 2 years and still love it.

Solar means that it charges the battery with ambient light. No batteries to replace.Atomic means that it receives the atomic time radio broadcasts at the top of the hour from Midnight to 5am.The clock displays REC while it's calibrating.Takes about 5 min each time to calibrate.Every day, your watch is dead on.Forget daylight savings time changes. This watch does it for you.

The only extremely-minor annoyance with the watch is travelling to Europe and looking at the watch only to see REC filling the display for 5 minutes around lunch time.I'm sure there's a way to turn the receive mode off temporarily. The watch only receives the atomic signal from Boulder CO in the 48 contiguous states.

Will this last forever?Don't know yet.Two years and no setting, winding, or battery changes needed so far.

Citizen Men's BL5250-02L Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Watch Review

Citizen Men's BL5250-02L Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am what many would call a watch nut and own over 30 ranging from Timex to Rolex. For me to buy a watch there has to be "something there" for me to get excited about. At $240, this is one of the very best buys on a fantastic watch that you can find! I was so impressed with this watch I purchased a second one as a gift for my father in law who by the way, was very impressed with the watch himself.

Before getting into all the things I like about this watch I want to point out one of the other reviewers posted a problem with the buckle on his watch having some "points" on it that dug into his wrist and made the watch uncomfortable to wear. This must be a factory defect as this is not the case with either of the two that I purchased. While the watch strap is not usually covered by warranty I know from 1st hand experience that Citizen has a dedicated and friendly customer service department and I believe if he contacts them he will find a new strap coming to him rather quickly. Also as to the strap, I have been disappointed somewhat in the past when purchasing a watch and the strap that comes with it is not substantial in length. I have a 7.25 inch wrist and this has not caused me a problem but I would readily notice if someone had a larger wrist they would have to go out and purchase a new and larger strap to be able to wear their new watch. The strap that comes with this citizen will allow someone with a larger wrist than mine to be able to wear this watch with the strap that comes on it. This is very good as I believe the supplied strap is very handsome on this watch.

The BL5250-02L is a marvelous little piece of technology at a very good price! At a suggested retail of $400 I have routinely found the watch at local authorized dealers at around $300. My watch was purchased on line for $240 with free shipping and for an additional $5 you could have "next day" shipping.

This watch comes to you very user friendly right out of the box. Along with the user manual also comes a mini disk that when played will have you understanding all the features, time settings and adjustments. You will have your watch set and on your wrist in about 10 minutes. Also, if you lose this information you may go to Citizen's web page and pull up the same info on an interactive video.

The Echo Drive models have a power cell in them that is charged by available light so there is no battery change ever! The perpetual calendar allows you to set the watch once and then it recognizes short months along with leap years so there is no further adjustment for that. Also, there is a duel time zone feature. I use this for setting the second time zone to address the yearly time change of one hour. Doing this with the simple turn of the dial my watch snaps into Daylight savings time mode and then back with another turn when the time comes to go back. It just does not get easier than that.

The rotating bezel certainly may be used for more than just looks. One of the ways I use mine is when I plug a parking meter. I just rotate the bezel so my minute hand moving toward the marker allows me to quickly see when I need to be back at my car. The alarm function works but it is not very noticeable. I have two Seiko's that have a very audible and piercing sound. In this area I have to say Citizen could improve the watch. However, I do notice it if I am awake. I just don't know if it would wake me from a deep sleep.

The finish of the watch is very nice and the strap is very comfortable to wear. The watch while feeling very solid is not as heavy as you may would expect and it wears very nicely on the wrist. The watch is advertised as a "deep blue" face and that is an understatement. For all purposes except in direct sunlight it is black. This does not bother me at all because it looks great and again, in direct sunlight it does have a blue hew that looks good also. Besides great function and price another strong point on this watch is the luminosity of the hands and markers. With over 30 watches my Seiko's seem to have a lock on that area but this citizen comes in a very, very close second. After being outside all day I can read my watch all night long from my darkened bedroom.

Last but not least, this watch comes with a five year warranty and as I stated before, Citizen has great customer service.

I have just touched on the many features of this finely made watch and for you that do not like straps and would prefer a bracelet, Citizen offers the same watch on a bracelet as model number, BL5250-53L. It retails for $500, local price around $400, web price $300.

I rate this watch a solid 4 out of a possible 5 stars. I would have given it 4.5 if the alarm were more noticeable. I am very picky and I did not even rate my Rolex 5 stars. I highly recommend this watch and would but purchase itagain. In fact, I did when I purchased one for my father in law. If this watch appeals to your eye buy it! Price, functions, ease of use, warranty, and customer service is just icing on the cake!

Citizen Men's BJ7000-52E Eco-Drive Nighthawk Stainless Steel Watch Review

Citizen Men's BJ7000-52E Eco-Drive Nighthawk Stainless Steel Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Sweet watch, I've been wearing mine for 4 months.

I'm an Environmental Engineering Student and I also currently own an Omega Speedmaster ($2100 graduation gift long ago) and a Titanium Pro-Trek Casio Triple Sensor Watch (Compass, Altimeter & Temperature $295.00) that I used for my previous job as an outdoors wilderness instructor.

Both those watches are extreme (the Casio being too rugged, big and bulky the Omega being very freaking expensive) for everyday use and wanted something that suited my keen personality, short budget and modern taste.

I never liked anything in terms of jewelry or watches from department stores or malls, but when I walked into MACY's during Christmas shopping last december at the local mall I saw these Eco-Drive watches for the first time.

It has always been my opinion that Citizen makesvery old fashioned timepieces, yet the Nighthawk Eco-Drive is very different and far more classy than any other Citizen watch on the shelf. Some of the other newer Eco-Drive watches also look edgy and fresher. But the nighthawk captures a boldness with it's appearancethat is very timeless. Needless to say, I tried it on and was sold.

The features are amazing, apart from all the other "timekeeping-based and solar powered-based features you can read about everywhere else on the internet, the Nighthawk also has a multi-functional Slide Rule. This is not really praised or mentioned anywhere else so I will tell you what it is, what it does and why it makes owning this watch very cool!

With the slide rule you can calculate your car's fuel consumption, average speed/velocity and the time you will arrive at your destination, you can also multiply and divide numbers, calculate ratio's into percentages, integers and decimals, covert liters to gallons, pounds to kilograms as well as other metric conversions. The slide rule also performs a few more complicated calculations that involve airplanes and nautical vessels that are beyond my understanding.

At any rate, these calculations can be done by simply rotating the NightHawk's bezel and matching specific arrows at certain points along the dial. (If you don't believe me, you can download the Nighhawk's PDF manual and read up on it for yourself.)

In fact, it is easier than using a calculator and clears up the big mystery of what people used before computers and electronic calculators were invented; they used the "Slide Rule".

Being a grad student, I've read about the slide rules in a variety of classes but I never thought that I would own one on my next watch. I also would have never guessed that the slide rule is so efficient and easier to use than the graphics calculators we use in school.

The only negatives cocerning the Slide Rule feature on the NightHawk are the numbers on the slide rule dial are small and angled inwards so that they are tricky to read without tilting the watch around to get a good view of the numbers. Also the slide rule only approximates and produces whole numbers for some of the more advanced calculations. Overall, I found that the useful geek-features, outdoorsman durability, everyday comfort and eco-friendliness to be well synthesized in the classy steel body of the Nighthawk Eco-Drive.

The window is made of plastic, not crystal. After a couple of days use, I already got some scratch. The plastic window makes this watch look tacky.Casio should have used glass with this type of classic design.

Other than that, (almost) everything as described.Looks nice and works fine.
Time calibration is done early in the morning, once a day (not four times a day as in the description, which I guess excessive). For a digital watch, maybe once a month would be acceptable.
Very light-weighted, probably thanks to the plastic window.
Buttons are somewhat inconvenient (hard to push) but with automatic calibration I seldom touch anything.

This is a very nice looking watch. Only downside is its wristband is too long and very difficult to adjust.

Casio sent me a how to adjust file and according to its description, this type should be just pushing the pin out, but even Walmart cannot do it with pin removal tool.

I bought the Timex Watch Strap for my Timex Ironman.

- Fit
The watch strap will work with any sport watch (all brands, not just Timex) with the standard 18mm old-style resin watch strap, such as this Timex Ironman. It will, of course, not fit sport watches with more fancy watch strap designs such as this Timex Ironman Model.

- Material
This watch strap made from resin, the material commonly used in the watch straps of sport watches. It is soft, supple, and comfortable to wear.

- Contents
The package comes with the watch strap as well as 2 replacement pins.

---
This timex watch strap well-made and comfortable and will work with watches that use the old-style resin watch straps. The cost of shipping is also very reasonable (as of this writing). I have been very happy with it and I would definitely recommend it if it's the right kind of replacement watch strap for your sports watch.

This watch is awsome. It has 5 alarms, stopwatch, automatic calendar, timer, light, and is waterproof. What more could you ask for. It feels very sturdy and is definately no cheap Drug store watch. I have owned 3 to 4 hundred dollar watches and this one takes the cake. Simple yet sophisticated design, comfortable, and less than 75 bucks shipped express. There is no better deal out there, I've searched. All in all this is no TAG but for the money it blows away all the other watches in this price range and even more expensive ones. I have three G-Shocks and this one is my favorite.I have a smaller wrist that most men and the truely huge G-Shocks just don't seem to work for me.So when I choose, I must be sure that it isn't sooo bulky - this one is not (neither is my G-7100-3V or AWG-100). Love the watch.

G-Shock 5-Band Atomic Solar Watch Review

G-Shock 5-Band Atomic Solar Watch

I bought this watch because I always seem to need batteries in my other ones. I love the idea of a solar powered watch and I have been getting the time from the Atomic clock on my PC for years now....so the two together...Great idea!
I also wanted something looked good and is tough! Casio has all this and more....My only real complaint is that I just couldn't see the numerals...they are a very anemic white against a black background and they are so small I had to get out my reading glasses to see the time....they have another model which I should have gotten instead, that has black numerals against a white background but it doesn't look as good as this one :(
