(More customer reviews)The DW 6600 is a good looking piece! Once you open the box, the watch looks much better than in most of the pictures posted on the Internet. Unlike the DW6600C-1V, the DW6600-1V does not have the G on the watch face background. Things that I like about this watch, besides its good looks, are:

*The chronometer's "target time" feature.
*The chronometer's "auto-start" option.
*Change between 24hr format and military time with the press of a button (in only 1 step).
*The Casio G Shock toughness and quality.

I hope that Casio keeps producing this great G-Shock classic on years to come. Recently, I have been looking at the DW6600C-1V model and that G on the display looks cool! I might add it to my collection :)

Finally, I have to add that buying through Amazon was a nice experience. My purchase was delivered on time and as promised.

(More customer reviews)I really like my G-7800B G-shock watch. The reverse display is not giving me much trouble reading the time. As long as there is some light... Sure, in some conditions a normal display can be easier to read. But with the bold font and with the large size, it's not something that happens very often.
Another thing that I really like is the customization possible with the alarms. You can set it to go off every day, only on week-ends or on week-days only. The hourly chime can also be set to start and stop at a certain time.
Compared to my old casio from the 1980's it's not as accurate. I would have liked it if this watch was radio controlled (atomic) to keep it more accurate. I would also have appreciated it to have a solar battery. But the battery type running this watch is supposed to last for about 7 years.
I certainly like the looks of this watch. Even though the square crystal makes it harder to keep clean compared to some of the other G-shock watches with a circular crystal.

I just received my G7800 (positive display, black, brushed stainless steel around the face) and I really like it. The digits are not annoying at all. I was afraid that the digits would be too 'tile like' but they are fine. They are bold enough to see at a glance. The time is perfectly placed right in the center of the watch! Can you imagine- a g shock with numbers perfectly placed, and no silliness filling up the screen? No more searching for the actual time amongst distractions! I was able to make the fonts on the day/date year fine, so that the time stands out more.

The watch has a very nice brushed steel front. Basically the styling is very similar to the 5600's. It is like a 5600, but upgraded and more modernized. It is a 5600 without as much nerdiness. It has a classy but tough look to it. It looks like it will hold up better than the 5600 cosmetically, thanks to the steel! It might be a tad more raised than the 5600. You really cannot go wrong with this one.

The watch is not atomic, which, to me, means that it should last longer than 1.5 years. I have had 3 atomic casios, and all 3 have died within 1.5 years. I wouldn't have bought it if it were atomic.

I think that we may have a perfect G shock here, which i didn't think existed. The only thing is that the band is a little stiff. Hopefully it will soften up with time. I might dip the straps in boiling water to help them along.

I can tell that I am going to wear this one constantly. It took over a year, but I am glad that I have finally pulled the trigger. $75, off of amazon, came in 4 days.

I could go on about the functions, but why bother? I just use it to tell the time, and to time myself at the gym and on my lunch hour. World time, timers etc..

Really guys- if you have been on the fence on this one- it is well worth pulling the trigger on this one. It is just a fantastically evolved dw5600. Maybe that is why they called it the 7800? They have taken the 5600 (which to me has always been a perfect watch) and they have dressed it up. They have brought the 5600 into this century. You can't go wrong here.

Don't be turned off by the tile like digits- that effect goes away when you see the watch in person. It was my biggest concern, but now it is not an issue.

(More customer reviews)This is my second G8000, I've owned one with the conventional gray background LCD G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock C-cubed G-8000-1VDR - WW for about two years and of the dozen-plus Casios I own it is the one that sees the most use. The product description for this watch doesn't go into much detail so I'll make up for that in the next few paragraphs- if you'd like the quick overview check out the 'Product Features' portion of the other G8000's page.

For starters the display isn't nearly as deep an orange as the photo depicts. Google other photos to get a better idea of just how orange the display really is. The circular band surrounding the display is a matte metallic finish with a crystal made of scratch-resistant glass, not plastic.

Another aspect of the display that isn't apparent in the photo is the LCD digits can vary in appearance depending on the viewing angle from the normal black to a silver mirror-like color making it difficult to read in low light without using the backlight or turning the display to make use of available lighting.

Yet another unique feature is an LED indicator on the lower right, yellow-orange in color, that blinks in sync with the alarms (3), one of two stopwatch modes, the countdown timer (normal or auto-repeat plus 2 alert modes) and can be set to blink with the signal at the top of the hour. If it sounds complicated, it isn't; Casio watches in general are fairly intuitive to set up. My only complaint about the LED is the placement of its housing above the crystal can sometimes interfere with viewing the seconds display regardless of wearing this on the right or left wrist.

The EL backlight glows yellow-orange and can be set to stay on for 1.5 or 3 seconds when the upper right button is pressed or for automatic operation when turning your wrist to view the display. Automatic operation shuts off after 6 hours to prolong battery life.

Other minor dislikes about the watch: 1) When changing modes there is a lag where only the mode name's abbreviation is displayed (such as STW for stopwatch) before actually displaying any digits although after use this becomes less noticeable.2) The stopwatch doesn't respond as quickly to the start/stop button as older Casios and the recessed buttons are a further hindrance to quick button presses; this isn't a good stopwatch for measuring sub-one second events with much accuracy. 3) The countdown timer can only be set in one minute increments to a maximum of 23 hours, 59 minutes unlike other G-Shocks' 99 hour 59 minute 59 second max.

Yes, they last a very long time.I replaced my G-2900, which is by far, my favorite, because the band broke.I got this G2900F-3VDR because it was on sale and looked nearly exactly the same as my G2900.The color is like a dark military brown.Love it.The only thing I miss is the metal button that you push to backlight the face.It is plastic in this model, and makes it look just a little cheap.Otherwise, I still love this watch!

Also, it is very understated which is unusual for a G. Buttons are a little hard to push, but not a big problem. Has all the bells and whistles plus an LED at he 4 o'clock position.Can be a little hard to read in low light. If you want one get it now-no more are being made. Production ceased in 2007. Super fast shipping. Can't miss on this one!!

(More customer reviews)Over the past year, I wore out four watches. My first one was an atomic watch. Hard to let that feature go, but the band was too cheaply made. The next watch was a military issue. The winding knob fell off one day. In the morning it was there. At the end of the day, it was gone. Don't know what happened to it.

I ended up getting the G-Shock. I've worn it daily for the last eight months or so. The band is still good. It's not starting to come apart. You can't even tell which eyelet I put the tongue in everyday. There's no wear at all. It's gone through barbed wire, rocks and sand. It's bumped around on humvees, helicopters and airplanes. The battery is still good and the metal still shines. There are minimal scratches.

Negative: It's a trick getting used to which button does which function. It's also a pain to change the analog time when you move across time zones. The hand only advances, there's no counter-clockwise movement for the hands. But that's really it.

I think this is the best watch I've ever had.

One of the folks that I work with also has this watch and he's the kind of guy who will spend $1000 on a watch without flinching.

It's a tough watch. It's attractive. It's not so big that it looks more like a belt buckle on your wrist. It doesn't give you altitude and it doesn't pay your taxes. It does, however, keep time with wonderful consistency. The blue/green light won't ruin your night vision.

If you are going through Amazon's catalogue like I was looking at the $400 watches and drooling. Take a break, save some cash and enjoy this watch.

It shows the date and day of the week on the same screen. you can also see the current time in alarm and timer mode. I really like the Auto Light feature. Light is on briefly when you lift your arm towards your face. very clever.

The delivery was very quick from a 3rd party seller.

I highly recommend this watch. a definite keeper!

- It is so easy to set up, no need to be a brainer to set this watch
- All alarms function properly
- when I travel all i have to do change the date time group to my new destination and thats it. I get to see the new time zone.
- Physical shape and size of this watch is also good. My wrist is kind of thin however this watch sits perfect on my arm.
- Its sturdy you dont need to worry about damaging this watch.
