G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock G-7800-1DR - WW Review

Review of My new G7800: like a greatly improved 5600!
I just received my G7800 (positive display, black, brushed stainless steel around the face) and I really like it. The digits are not annoying at all. I was afraid that the digits would be too 'tile like' but they are fine. They are bold enough to see at a glance. The time is perfectly placed right in the center of the watch! Can you imagine- a g shock with numbers perfectly placed, and no silliness filling up the screen? No more searching for the actual time amongst distractions! I was able to make the fonts on the day/date year fine, so that the time stands out more.

The watch has a very nice brushed steel front. Basically the styling is very similar to the 5600's. It is like a 5600, but upgraded and more modernized. It is a 5600 without as much nerdiness. It has a classy but tough look to it. It looks like it will hold up better than the 5600 cosmetically, thanks to the steel! It might be a tad more raised than the 5600. You really cannot go wrong with this one.

The watch is not atomic, which, to me, means that it should last longer than 1.5 years. I have had 3 atomic casios, and all 3 have died within 1.5 years. I wouldn't have bought it if it were atomic.

I think that we may have a perfect G shock here, which i didn't think existed. The only thing is that the band is a little stiff. Hopefully it will soften up with time. I might dip the straps in boiling water to help them along.

I can tell that I am going to wear this one constantly. It took over a year, but I am glad that I have finally pulled the trigger. $75, off of amazon, came in 4 days.

I could go on about the functions, but why bother? I just use it to tell the time, and to time myself at the gym and on my lunch hour. World time, timers etc..

Really guys- if you have been on the fence on this one- it is well worth pulling the trigger on this one. It is just a fantastically evolved dw5600. Maybe that is why they called it the 7800? They have taken the 5600 (which to me has always been a perfect watch) and they have dressed it up. They have brought the 5600 into this century. You can't go wrong here.

Don't be turned off by the tile like digits- that effect goes away when you see the watch in person. It was my biggest concern, but now it is not an issue.

It is nice and good quality with lots of functions, but it gets dirty quickly and when it gets wet the white changes color to a light blue. It is strange and it takes a long time to turn back to white. The silver protection around the glass gets scratched easily. The screen is hard to read.

Casio Executive Waveceptor Black Ladies Watch LWQ120DA-1AV Review

Casio Executive Waveceptor Black Ladies Watch LWQ120DA-1AV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For some reason, watch manufacturers don't seem to like to offer "gadgety" watches for women, or perhaps they don't want to have to squeeze things into small cases. So to find a solar / atomic womens' watch at all is something to notice.I wanted a solar (or other non-replacement battery powered) watch with a perpetual calendar, an analog display with a second hand (annoying how they are becoming so rare!), and ideally, atomic capability. And it had to look fairly nice, not look like plastic, and be suitable for a variety of situations and outfits. This watch combines all those things.

The face has clearly marked increments, four shiny numerals, and is a sort of deep brownish eggplant color. You can sort of see 6 "pie slices" under the dial which seems to be the divisions of the solar cell.It doesn't detract from the appearance.I've uploaded a customer photo, but it actually looks more attractive in person. There are also versions in steel/white face and gold tone. The band is not the most attractive ever, but it isn't too busy, either, and it has a pleasant combination of brushed and polished surfaces. The links are short enough and flexible enough to fit small wrists, and practically all of the links are removable.I have a tiny wrist of just a little more than 5 inches, and I was able to resize this to my satisfaction, whereas many metal-band watches won't even bend that far.The clasp is a fold-over deployment clasp with two buttons.

The main issue with this watch would be size and weight. It's not outrageous; it's perhaps a bit smaller than what one might expect with a women's automatic (the mechanical kind) in terms of case size and thickness.I'm a barely 5 ft petite, and it looks fine on me.It did take a few days to get used to the weight, though, which I can't find listed.I'd estimate that it weighs something like 2 or more dollars in quarters.

Before you buy: Be aware that the radio reception may be harder to get than you realize, so find a seller with a reasonable return policy. If your windows face the wrong way or recessed in some way, it could take some work to get reception.Definitely something to test out before you decide to keep the watch.I live in Chicago, and I can't get reception in my apartment except at one point halfway up my window, so I've had to stick a hook to the side of the window frame where I hang my watch each night. You can find out by setting the watch to "ready" (receiving) state and moving it around slowly until you see the second hand swing to "work" position. The watch makes several attempts each night to sync, and these times cannot be changed. So if you have no reception indoors at night, you may have to sync manually outdoors - and that does not work very well if you are trying to walk at the same time because the watch must remain more or less stationary. So make sure you work out a satisfactory calibration spot/schedule that you can live with when you first receive your watch.

The hands do start moving when you open up the box, but that is not syncing; that is simply the watch coming out of "sleep" state.Once it does calibrate, though, it really is fantastic to know that you have the correct time down to the second and won't miss the train because your watch was slow.Great fun to watch it ticking in sync with internet clocks. As far as I know, once the watch is calibrated, the calendar will be automatic (perpetual), i.e. no more having to manually advance the date in months like February or leap years.Personally, I find non-perpetual calendars on watches kind of pointless if I have to actually remember the date to reset it in the first place.

Also, you may have to manually align the hands when you first get the watch to calibrate.Mine was one minute behind at first. The manual was fairly clear on how to fix that. This is not a watch you can operate without at least glancing through the manual.Read that manual and don't lose it!

Although this wasn't a dealbreaker for me, I was a little disappointed that this watch didn't offer more of the functions that men's watches do given the size of the thing. This model can only be set to North American time zones and does not receive European or Japanese signals - frustrating since I spend a decent amount of time in Asia. You can't specify your own GMT differential. There is no backlight, although the two main hands are glow-in-the-dark.Water resistance is a respectable but not impressive 50M.Casio does make a ladies' atomic with reception in Asia and more functions and time zones, backlight, day-date, stopwatch, and ana-digi display(LWA120LA), but it runs on regular battery instead, and ultimately, I didn't want to deal with changing batteries.

All in all, this is a highly practical watch at a practical price. It's not my dream watch yet and borders on clunky, but it has most of the things I want in a watch and is about as close as I could get to "man-watch" functions in a ladies' size case.I had been wanting to buy the Citizen ladies' Perpetual Calendar Eco-Drive because it was a more comfortable size, but I would have had to pay twice the amount and give up on radio control.

Finally: some sellers offer the original manufacturer's warranty, some may not.If it matters to you, check or ask.

Casio Men's G7301B-3V G-Shock Classic Digital Sports Watch Review

Casio Men's G7301B-3V G-Shock Classic Digital Sports Watch
Average Reviews:

Bought this for my son, for two features: solar power and yacht racing timer. Casio watches offer a good value, and each model offers a slightly different combination of features aimed at specific uses. The controls are intuitive for such a full-featured watch.

It was purchased when previous Casio Pathfinder waterproofing failed after an $[...] battery replacement by Casio, but it was beyond Casio warranty, so replacement with this watch was cheaper than repair of the old Pathfinder.Hopefully this watch will last longer, since it is solar powered and should not have to be serviced for a long time. My family is "hard on watches".We have owned several Casio watches and they perform well, and are as durable as any other watches in their price range.

Product Description:
Tough and rugged enough for any workout regimen or outdoors training, this solar-powered Casio G-Shock digital men's watch (model G7301B-3V) is also a great choice for boating enthusiasts. It includes built-in timer for yacht races, which features 1-second measurements, a 60-minute countdown range, and a count up after countdown function. It's solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--so you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal and dial, and hits a solar cell beneath the dial. Current is created and stored in the battery. And it's water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet), which will protect the watch from splashes of sea spray and is suitable for recreational scuba diving.
It also offers a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 100-minute measuring capacity and elapsed time, split time, and 1st/2nd place time modes. Timekeeping features include four independent daily alarms (with one snooze alarm), an optional hourly time signal, year/month/date/day display (with an autocalendar to the year 2039), and a battery power indicator. Other features include a black resin watch case (with gray top ring) and strap, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, and AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight.

Casio Women's BG1500A-7B Baby-G Atomic Timekeeping Watch Review

Casio Women's BG1500A-7B Baby-G Atomic Timekeeping Watch
Average Reviews:

I received this today and was a little shocked by the wide white brightness of the band. It looks somewhat opaque blue in the picture, but is actually bright bright white as described. I guess it could be changed if my vanity overcomes me. On the other hand, it took 2 seconds to figure the multitude of cool gadgets out and THE coolest thing is seeing the hands of the watch turn by themselves when you select which city you live in. So fun!

I had an officer's Swiss Army watch for ten years before it suddenly stopped working- instead of getting it fixed (no it wasn't a battery issue) I thought I could use in my life as a mother/graduate student/ etc. etc. a watch with an alarm , date, timer... I am glad to make the transition to practicality (at least with my watch).

Product Description:
Tough and rugged enough for any workout regimen or outdoors training, this shock-resistant Casio Baby-G women's sport analog/digital watch (model BG1500A-7BV) is also very precise thanks to its atomic timekeeping features. It features a stylish white resin case and silver top ring, which frames a white dial face with three light silver digital subdials (which display day, date, and the 1/100-second stopwatch). Other timing features include world time from 48 cities, 12/24-hour display, autocalendar (to the year 2099), and hourly time signal. This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet), suitable for recreational snorkeling. It also offers a tapered white resin strap, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, and AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight.
This radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from Fort Collins, Colorado, and signal reception is possible within a radius of about 2,000 miles from the Fort Collins transmitter. You can choose to automatically receive this signal four times a day, or manually update the watch to the atomic clock.

G-shock Atomic Solar Watch Review

G-shock Atomic Solar Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent watch. It is virtually indestructible, feeds on sunlight, and "phones home." The common criticisms of this and its atomic G-Shock siblings are that they are cumbersome and ugly. Admittedly, it is not the slimmest, sleekest watch in the world. And no, it isn't the most elegant either. And clearly, style and comfort do indeed enter into the equation when you are shopping for a watch. But this is not a fashion watch, nor was it ever meant to be one. It is a functional one. You might wear a sleek, beautiful Movado watch to the opera, but you are not likely to subject such a watch to all the stresses and strains of an active lifestyle. This watch will take whatever you can throw at it and then some, and it will be accurate to the atomic second. So, it is a very different kind of watch from a stylish Movado. My Movado sits quietly in the darkness of my jewelry cabinet most of the time; it is "too good" to wear every day.

I have worn my atomic G-Shock for over a year now, and have grown to depend on it. However, I recently decided to purchase another. Here's why: The watch does indeed feed on sunlight. You never need to hassle with a battery. You may have it fully charged in October. But as you go into the dark months of winter, without adequate exposure to sunlight, the watch will slowly begin losing its charge. Eventually, in the middle of winter, you may find it going into a state of hibernation if its charge falls below a certain threshold. In that event, all you can do is take it off and leave it in the feeble winter sunlight for a number of days until it is recharged. During that recharging time, you will need a backup watch to wear, if you have one. I didn't. I was originally going to buy a cheap stand-in, but decided instead to buy a second atomic G-Shock, so impressed was I by the first one's resilience and dependability.

In summary, this watch is not meant to replace the stylish watch you wear to the opera or other dressy occasions. This is a functional, everyday watch, resilient, self-sufficient, and intelligent.

The whole watch is pink. I should have paid more attention to the description, I guess. The alternate view pics that amazon offers looked white (they're probably a different model) and I couldn't really tell from the pic where the watch faces you. It was a gift, but my mom had to send it back. :-(The band is a light pink color. Also, the face is a little smaller than I wanted because I was looking for something big and cool. I would have kept it, though, if the band hadn't been pink.

I bought this watch for its durability and its features.I like the fact that it is solar powered.I wanted a stopwatch and countdown timer with 24 hr. capability.I also like that the backlight lights up the entire face of the watch.I don't have to periodically set the time on the watch because it does that automaticaly each night.Except for two minor issues this would be the perfect watch. The volume on the alarm is much softer than on my previous Casio watches.I'm a little concerned that there may be times when it will not be loud enough to wake me up.Also, I would like to be able to display the time in the small display at the top when I am using one of the other modes on the watch.Other than these two issues, I really like this watch.

Casio G-Shock Watch GWM5600-1CR Review

Casio G-Shock Watch GWM5600-1CR
Average Reviews:

You'd think with the "5600" suffix they would have just taken the venerable DW5600 and just added solar and atomic time - but they had to go and mess with it.In short, the watch has a couple "Huh?" moments that make you wonder what the designers were thinking:

Countdown timer is only an hour, not 24 hours - but the stopwatch goes for 999 hours.Huh?
Doesn't show time in all modes.(nice to have in the 5600)
No second time zone.(to be fair, the new 5600s dropped this too)
Can't set countdown in seconds, but it counts down in 1/10 seconds?(can't use it for interval training, this irked me the most)
No auto-repeat of timer.(same as above)

Plus I hear that the batteries in these solar models don't last any longer than if you bought a 5600 and just used regular ole dimestore lithiums - which are like a fifth the cost.Note that I didn't ding it for this, but go do your own research on how long the batteries really last if you are buying this in order to not have to buy batteries again.People have had 5600s running on their original batteries for ten years.

I sent this one back and bought a DW5600E.If the GW5000 turns out OK I might get one of those.

The minor flaw is it has the option, even shows the little symbol, to set the watch so when you turn it 90 degrees the light will come on automatically(during the night time). But when I called Casio they told me that function only works on the pathfinder edition (most expensive one).I guess I didn't read all of the features closely, but why would they have that function available if it doesn't work, but whatever, now I know.Other than that the watch is great: durable, lightweight, stylish (I personally love the all matte black finish or else I wouldn't have gotten it), reads excellent in light, LED light works great, the band does not eat at my skin like others I have owned in the past and I love how G shock still has the throw-back squared style watches (another personal favorite). If you are looking for a durable watch with the features it has at a great price (Casio $99, I got it off amazon for $67 (no shipping)), I would defiantly recommend this watch. So far I am a G shock customer for life :).

I recently took up diving and wanted a watch that I could use underwater while diving, as well as something that I could wear out if I wanted to.This watch has been the perfect cheap dive watch with a casual, fun appeal. We dove 40-50 feet and it works perfectly.I also have been wearing it out, especially in my more casual outfits.I love that there is no battery, just leave it in the sun.Perfect watch at the perfect price!

Bought this watch for a middle school kid.Worked fine for a week, then the analog display started lagging off and didn't keep the same time as the digital display like it should. Also the crystal scratches up easily, where it is difficult to read the display.Overall lousy performance for a watch that sells for $40.00.

Casio Men's DW5600MS-1CR G-Force Military Concept Black Digital Watch Review

G-Shock watches speak for themselves. My last G-shock unfortunately had a broken strap and since it was purchased in Japan, good luck with finding parts for it.I would agree with another reviewer that the "adjust" button is harder to press, but that's probably because Casio doesn't want you to accidentally hit that button. All the other 3 buttons protrude a bit more, and you don't have to use your nails to push down. The back lit is blue, and it's easy to read.Overall you can't complain about the build quality of the watch. The strap feels extremely comfortable, and the watch doesn't feel bulky at all.I have a pretty thin wrist and it fits me pretty well.
