G - Shock - DW66001V Review

G - Shock - DW66001V
Average Reviews:

The DW 6600 is a good looking piece! Once you open the box, the watch looks much better than in most of the pictures posted on the Internet. Unlike the DW6600C-1V, the DW6600-1V does not have the G on the watch face background. Things that I like about this watch, besides its good looks, are:

*The chronometer's "target time" feature.
*The chronometer's "auto-start" option.
*Change between 24hr format and military time with the press of a button (in only 1 step).
*The Casio G Shock toughness and quality.

I hope that Casio keeps producing this great G-Shock classic on years to come. Recently, I have been looking at the DW6600C-1V model and that G on the display looks cool! I might add it to my collection :)

Finally, I have to add that buying through Amazon was a nice experience. My purchase was delivered on time and as promised.

Alright first off let me say this is my first G-Shock watch.I'm completely blown away with what it can do.The description sums it up, but it did leave out one cool little trick it does, if the setting for it is on it AUTOMATICALLY turns on when you lift your wrist to look at your watch...AWESOME!I think the tilt has to be more than 40 degrees before it automatically turns on.For the money you can't beat this combo on this watch... I got mine at Kohl's, when I saw it had to havbe it, even for a couple bucks more... 73.31 total! From now I will always own at least 1 G-Shock!!BUY IT!!!!

I love this watch. For years I bought $10 watches and expected them to eventually break and be thrown away. When the last one broke, I decided to try a $50 watch and picked the G-Shock Men's Watch. It is a thick, tough, functional, and waterproof watch. I love the e-data feature. I have replaced alarms on my phone with this function. The band it really tough. I had it get caught on a cupboard door and it pulled me to the floor.

Casio G-Shock Atomic Solar Power Stainless Steel Watch GW530A-1AV Review

Casio G-Shock Atomic Solar Power Stainless Steel Watch GW530A-1AV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this model for about two and one-half years.I had two other G-shock watches that I handed down to my sons, since this watch does everything I need. It's solar and is fully charged after about five minutes of daylight on a regular basis. It's atomic so the time is always set (it attempts to set itself at 2:00AM, 3:00AM, 4:00AM and 5:00AM and takes about three minutes).WiFi will interfere with the reception on the watch.I've found that it generally sets best when I wear it to sleep or keep it in a room far from any WiFi devices.Even then, if it doesn't set and I absolutely need it to set, I can put it near the window in my office and set the receive-mode and the time updates. It also sets itself automatically for Daylight Saving Time.If you live in Arizona, the DST mode can be disabled. It has multiple time-zones, several alarms (which I really find useful - especially the "snooze" every five minutes!) and the auto-EL feature (if desired).

I've had no issues with this watch.I skate and have taken some hard slams with this watch (and with my other G-Shock watches).Tough as nails, reliable time-keeping, and with no battery to worry about changing (though my other G-Shock G100-1BV in navy blue for eight years before it needed a battery).

I'm only considering a new G-Shock now because of the all white case & band - it looks awesome.

I had other G-shock watches before, but now my skin reacts to the rubber watch band. The nylon mesh band is great, with the velcro adjustment, it was very comfortable.I like the Casio for its ruggedness and the solar power is a great bonus.I went snorkeling with this watch, only about 15ft., but it worked fine, I didn't need to turn on the backlight. The backlight works pretty well low light and dark rooms. The only negative thing about the watch, are the buttons. You need to push them pretty hard to get the function you want. But you get used to it.

Casio Men's DW6600C-1V G-Shock Classic Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's DW6600C-1V G-Shock Classic Digital Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of those time proven classic watches that is hard to sum up in a short review. The DW-6600 just happens to be the longest running G-Shock in production, without any real updates to the design. The DW-6600 that you buy today will be nearly identical to the DW-6600 you purchased in 1994. There are very few watches in the industry that are good enough to survive 14 years of production without change.

The odd twist to this watch's long running heritage is that most of the DW-6600's made in 1994 are probably still running strong, with just a battery change. This watch has a toughness of legendary proportions. And if the watch does ever start to show its age, spare straps, bezels and gaskets can be ordered cheaply through the Casio Service Center. Strap adapters are even available to convert over to a one-piece dive strap. If that weren't enough, steel face protectors can be ordered to further increase the watch's durability. The DW-6600 is a regular "tour de force". It's no wonder that the DW-6600 is a favorite of law enforcement, EMS, firefighters, and the military. The DW-6600 has even been officially issued to US Navy SEALs.

While this watch does not have many of the advanced features of newer model G-Shocks, the basic features that it does have are very well implemented, and simple to use. The "Target Time" feature is especially unique and quite useful. The LCD illumination of the DW-6600 is probably brighter than on any G-Shock ever made. Button protection is very good, while still allowing the buttons to be pressed fairly easily. One button press will hot-swap you between 12 hour time and military time.

If you are looking for something elegant and unassuming, you'd better run for your life right now. This is not a watch for dinner parties and eating small food from silver trays. Wearing a DW-6600, you'll look more at home at a roadhouse, fighting with the locals and spilling bear. The DW-6600 is an absolute beast of a watch, designed with layer upon layer of shock absorbing protection. If you want a watch that can take beating upon beating, and then ask for maybe a few more beatings, you've come to the right place.

Casio Men's G7700-1 G-Shock Trainer Multi-Function Shock Resistant Watch Review

Casio Men's G7700-1 G-Shock Trainer Multi-Function Shock Resistant Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this watch a week ago at an unbeatable price of $47 incl. tax and shipping (almost 50% off the RRP). What I wanted was a watch that was useful for athletic training (I'm an avid runner and swimmer). What I received was a superb well-rounded G-Shock that surpassed my expectations regarding the purpose of the watch, one that has several unique features that other G-Shocks presently do not feature:
*1/1000 stopwatch with split and 999 lap time functions--perfect for athletic training, getting splits etc. while running or swimming.
*Auto-start feature--a 5 second countdown prior to starting the stopwatch, with cool animated graphics.
*2 100-hour countdown timers, adjustable to the second--ideal for interval training on long runs.
*Customizable alarms for weekend and weekday--great for people like me who have to wake up at 7am on weekdays and noon on weekends without having to constantly switch on/off different alarms.
*Customizable hourly signal--set it so that it only beeps on the hour during any specified period (ie. 7am-11pm), so that it doesn't beep while sleeping.
*Flash alert--red and green LEDs go off in sync with the alarms and stopwatch auto-start systems. With the stopwatch auto-start, the LEDs are employed to create a cool motor races effect by having red lights going off in sync with the countdown and green lights going off at the start itself.

Other features of the watch:
*World time in 48 cities--48 cities is new for me, previous G-Shocks only had 27 or so, perfect for frequent travelers like me.
*EL backlight (blue-green) with auto-EL function.
*A very comfortable strap with good fit, and a thin case (by G-Shock standards) makes for one of the most easy-to-wear G-Shocks ever.
*Buttons are extremely easy to push. Some users have complained that the "G" button on the front of the watch, which activates the EL backlight, is hard to press; that wasn't the case for me.

Some cons:
*EL backlight duration (1 second)--too short for me, especially on a display with so much information, presumably to increase battery life. 2 or 3 seconds would be ideal.
*Non-solar powered--given all the power-hungry features of this watch, solar power would be ideal, so as not to worry about running down the batteries with all the alarms, lights and all.

However, these are minor issues. I'm sure this watch would suit anyone out there--by far one of the most feature-packed yet comfortable-to-wear and stylish G-Shocks out there, perfect for any occasion.

Casio Men's MTG900DA-8V G-Shock MT-G Atomic Tough Solar Watch Review

Casio Men's MTG900DA-8V G-Shock MT-G Atomic Tough Solar Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I surveyed vast field of digital choices before getting the watch a month ago, and I'm well satisfied. Most digital watches (as opposed to analog with hour and minute hands) are ugly, IMO, so my surveying has mainly been frustrating.I found a nice line of digital Casio Edifices, with big digits and glimmering colorful faces, which served for a while, but has apparently been discontinued a year or two ago, and my last one quit working two months ago.

I bought this watch, grimacing at the price, just because it wasn't particularly ugly and had big digits, but it exceeded my meager expectations. The manual was a bit of a slog - it took about 20 minutes to read, but well worth it.

The features are outstanding - about 5 alarms, one of which can be set for snooze alarms, the expected stop watch, easy access to Greenwich Meridian Time, markers for noting times, a backlight, waterproof enough for scuba diving (not that I dive).

The special features include checking with a radio signal daily so the time is always correct (important for catching my buses and winning arguments about what time it really is), solar power (so run-down batteries should never be a problem), and backlighting that turns on when one turns one's wrist (surprisingly convenient).A nice touch is when one cycles back to the time, the watch gives a different unobtrusive beep.

There are other features available on other watches - tape recorders, flash drives, altimeters, compasses, but none that sound remotely useful in the long run.

I had to shorten the well-built wriststrap by 5 or 6 links, a little tricky, but any watch shop could do it in 5 minutes.

If you want a big, full-featured, easy-to-read and operate digital watch, this is the one, and I've surveyed most of them.

Post originally written mid-January, this added 2-25-07:I've found there might be problems with battery life, or maybe it is just the Seattle winter.I've had to leave my watch sometimes under a light when the power get low, and changing the battery can only be done by Casio, according to one watch shop. Also, the price on the watch is coming down quickly to more reasonable levels.I still like it a lot, despite having to juice it up from time to time.

Casio Men's DW5600E-1V G-Shock Classic Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's DW5600E-1V G-Shock Classic Digital Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This 5600 has everything I need, and nothing I don't:
- It tells you the time, date, and day of the week at a glance.
- It has 1 alarm (not 5 like many other G-Shocks -- too fidly).
- A countdown timer (with the current time shown in the upper box).
- A stopwatch (again, time is still shown).

That's it. If you want fancy "features" like inaccurate temperature readings, barometric pressure graph which gets distorted by temperature and altitude, 19 alarms, and world time in 7,000 cities around the world -- look elsewhere! This watch does exactly what a wristwatch should, which in my opinion is tell the time, and take an absolute beating. I don't particularly want to stand in public pressing 15 buttons on my watch, just to set a quick alarm to remind me of something. This 5600 keeps everything relatively simple (obviously go through the manual when you first get it).

(I started collecting G-Shocks; they have all since been given away/sold since I discovered this little beauty. I had a Riseman, Gulfman, Mudman, and G7700 -- and none of them were worn after purchasing this. And I paid AUS$350 for the Riseman!)

The design of this watch is absolutely classic. It is truly a "timeless" design for a digital watch. The best thing about it is the simplicity -- it is one of the few G-Shocks which doesn't have random circles which show the seconds, bar graphs, a bezel 2 inches off your wrist, etc etc. It's clean and simple.

As far as durability, I haven't taken mine off for over 6 months; it's been swimming indoors, at the beach, smashed against shelving time and time again (I'm a storeman), it gets run under hot water about 10 times a day for hand-washing, I shower in it, sleep in it, play with my kids at the park ... It is yet to show ANY visible damage -- absolutely amazing!

The buttons are fine to press. After setting the alarm, starting the stopwatch, whatever, it returns you to the time mode with a single button push. Again, there is no nonsense, like scrolling through 5 more modes just to get back to the time display.

If you are also looking at the "solar atomic" model of the 5600, please consider -- the batteries in this watch will last years and years, and it will keep very accurate time (I reset it against Internet atomic time every few months and it's never been out by more than a few seconds). In my opinion solar & atomic are essentially "gimmicks" in wristwatches (no offense to those that enjoy those features, but, I see them as useless, and I have owned a solar G-Shock).

I 100% recommend this watch for the no-nonsense buyer who wants a relatively slim/sleek G-Shock with all the toughness, and non of the "fluff".
